Stuck in the Rocks

Postby Hakuzo NightFox on Mon Nov 21, 2011 5:58 am

All across Anduruna reports of people missing fill the nightly news reports on data-scrolls all across the city. The numbers are increasing rapidly. It started out only maybe one disappearance a month, now it’s as bad as someone missing every day.

The Citizens of Anduruna are afraid to leave their homes at night for fear they may be the next ones to be snatched up. Anduruna has enforced a city wide curfew to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Rumors float around town that strange lights can be seen in Starfall Mountains. These lights are said to start the same time that people started going missing. Once again the Government of Anduruna issued a law forbidding anyone from going into the Starfall Mountains for any reason.

____________________________________________________________________________________

The Starfall Mountains are endlessly cold. In the snow crystals can be seen glowing a faint blue in the night, these gems are used as a source of power for many people. There is rumored to be numerous caves in the mountains once used in wars past.

A few transport carts arrive at the mouth of a cave at nearly dawn. Armed guards stationed at the doors nod and key in a code into a keypad by the door. A large number 2 marks this door as the second entrance into some unknown place.

The carts pull inside a well lit underground complex. Once inside the door closes and the carts stop in front of three manager guards and at least ten regular guards. Each of the guards are carrying a Cyan key and a Powder Pink key. Latches were unhooked on the carts to reveal the contents of what they were transporting.

One cart contained a White fox bound and wearing a shock collar. The other one held a small feline and a lager Ryu-Neko.

“Wake up you maggots! Welcome to your knew home.” One of the managers yells, she was a grey wolf with a nasty bark.

The two sleeping creatures start to stir…. The feline was about to start crying when the wolf interrupted. “You must be Lilly, the Warden wants to see you right away.” Four of the guards escort the young feline and the large Ryu-neko to the Warden’s office.

The wolf turns her attention to the white fox. “You must be Tsukos NightFox. Your file here says you are rather… lack luster.“ The wolf pauses a moment to continue to read over the file. “The job you have been assigned to kitchen duty. You will be gathering and preparing Bander slime for the inmates of this facility.” The wolf pauses for a moment and asks, “Wait a moment, are you related to Hakuzo NightFox?”

A few minutes later Lilly emerges from the Warden’s office no longer wearing a Shock Collar. She lightly nuzzles Daikisuke when she comes out. As soon as they were dragged down the stairs, Daikisuke was fitted with a special cart for carrying crystals from the mountains outside. Lilly is given a heavy coat that is clearly too big for her, She is also given a heavily insulated canteen as well. She is sent out Entrance Four.

-=Outside in Starfall Mountain=-

The weather is very bitter at this time of day and already those that have to gather crystals to keep the facility running. There appears to be at least 55 crystals in the immediate area.

Two guards are watching closely a Fox/Dragon hybrid. She has the same heavy coat as Lilly and is digging around for crystals. She also has a very heavily insulated water canteen that prevents the water from freezing no mater how cold it gets. There four guards escorting Lilly pull her along rather roughly and the guards stop in front of Ivy.

A peon of a guard gruffly says “This is Lilly, show her how to gather these crystals. She will be your new partner from now on.” The peon drop off the duo and the four figure out which two have to stay to watch over Lilly and Daikisuke.

____________________________________________________________________________________

-=Complex Kitchen=-

The kitchen is surrounded by pots and pans. There is also a large selection of knives
The crew of the kitchen have to use to prepare the meals with. Between get the Bander Slime, Cooking the Bander Slime and then cleaning up the mess, the kitchen workers seem to work long hours.

A feline named Kitty is already here cooking away with a couple other inmates. With Males and Females eating at separate times, there’s a lot of food that must be prepared each day.

____________________________________________________________________________________

-=The Mines=-

The mines are dimmer than the rest of the complex. Lighting in the area has to be provided by mostly Glow Orbs with Starsquids inside of them. Any other form of light may cause an explosion if a gas leak springs up.

The Miners have thicker close they wear due to the rougher conditions. They also have gloves as well to help them work longer. They are also allowed to drink much more than most of the other workers as the work is much gruesome than all the other jobs.

This area of the mines have not be producing many gems. At most 5 gems would be the max that can be found today. The chances of a gas leak is very tiny as well.

Hakuzo NightFox and Cyprus Verillo await for their mining supplies so they can begin. After a while, Ashielf Rydlen lugs over the heavy equipment locker. He sets it down with a heavy thud in front of the guard. The guard then punches in a five digit code. Those quick enough where able to catch a single number punched in - - - - 1.

Tsukos was awoken roughly, and sat, then stood as he was handled out of the cart. The words the guard spoke mostly sailed right past him, except for 'kitchen duty'. Until of course he was asked if he was related to some Hakuzo Nightfox. Besides sharing the last name, he had never met anyone else by that name.

They had come in the night for him, finding him under his tent by the docks. Tsukos had been arrested before... sent to 'reeducation' facilities for minor infractions... but never like this. The collar kept him from escaping... usually if he tried hard enough he could slip out of any binds... but he'd resigned himself to another facility. He figured he must've broken the law enough times for them to stop giving him the kiddy treatment, as he'd never been told what he was being taken for.

Fortunately they gave him kitchen duty first... cooking was one of the few skills he'd picked up, and bander slime one of the most common free ingredients. He walked into the kitchen still in a bit of a daze.

Upon seeing the facilities, which were better than what he usually had to work with but a far cry from modern, he seemed to revive a bit. However, his brain didn't currently seem to be firing on all cylinders, as he immediately grabbed a small pot and set some water boiling before looking around for the ingredients for one person's meal. He was hungry after all.

Lilly looked around the cold landscape a bit, trying to focus more on major troubles rather then the small annoyances. She pulled the coat closer to her thin frame. But one thought kept comming back up in her head.
"They treat Daikisuke like he's my pet."

Daikisuke could only guess what the girl was thinking, but he knew they were sharing that thought. Lilly could feel his annoyance of that small fact rolling off him an waves. It was a good thing Lilly was the only one that in-tune with the large neko. Who, in their right minds, could think that a nine-year-old little girl could realistically tame and keep a giant ryuu-neko as a pet?! And have the neko be as content with that as Daikisuke? Apparently, everybody in this place; morons.

Lily then focused her attention on Ivy. Seeing as they would be working together, it wouldn't be in anyone's best interests if they got off on the wrong foot.

"Oh...uh, hello. W-what am I supposed to do?"

Daikisuke growled something to himself, taking a far greater interest in their surroundings than Lily. It was all he could do to keep from just full out attacking their captors. If it wasn't for Lily being there, he would do just that. He was just afraid of making it worse for her. The only thing that hadn't made his rage grow while he had been in this place was Lily getting her shock collar taken off. He could handle the annoying thing around his neck. He could handle even this Spirits' forsaken cart strapped to his back. But seeing that infernal contraption they call a 'Shock Collar' on her would have driven him mad. A drop of water on his tongue as he walked through a desert.

Rydlen lets out an over exaggerated groan as he sets the locker down. He stretches out a bit. Carrying that heavy thing stiffens your muscles.

"Morning, old-timers! Gots All your favorite stu-..."

He's suddenly distracted by the fact that Hat was left askew from carrying the locker. He takes a moment to fix it as the guard punches in the code, eyeing it from the very edge of view. Hmmm... Rrrk. Hat. Crooked... He adjusts it to perfection and flicks the very outer edge with a smirk. He hands out proper equipment to Hakuzo and Cyprus.

"So hows the morning so far? Chilled to the bone yet?"

He pats his thick coat, still frustrated as to how much it limits his movement, but glad he's not a popsicle. He nods to the guard who watches him closely, waiting for him to say when to move to the next group. Few months in and he still can't remember the schedule here. And he knows they like their schedules.

As Ivy was rummaging around in the glowing snow her ears had flicked up alert to the approaching voices and footsteps in the snow. This dragon fox hybrid had the usual shock collar as with the majority of the captives but her feathered wings remained bound in a special set of restraints to keep her from flying off.

After having placed another crystal down with a few others that had she had dug up, Ivy half turned to the approaching group. Ivy instantly laid here gaze on the gruff guard speaking to her, eyes narrowing with a frown in distaste for the authority here but had grown to ignore them. At least most of them. Ivy watched two of the guards wander off then looked first to the large Ryu-Neko with a raised eyebrow then down to the kid with a softening in expression.

"Hello there Lilly, my name is Ivy." Ivy said with a nod of her head in greeting while taking the time to sit back in the snow and unscrew the cap of the canteen that was sitting beside her, taking a drink from it then screwing the cap back on to place it back down beside her in the snow. Ivy then taking up one of the blue crystals that she had placed in a pile close by Ivy held it up for Lilly to see. The Crystal only being able to fit in half her hand while others were less in size.

"This is what we're being made to look for, we just dig about in the snow until we find them. Then we can dump them in the cart that your pet seems to be put up to pulling around. After the session of digging about I'm guessing you and your friend will be taken back to dump the load somewhere." Ivy continued explaining then looks up to the Ryu-Neko behind Lilly, thinking just as much as what everyone else probably thought of as the creature being a pet to Lilly.

Lily's eyes hardned and for half a moment she looked angry. Daikisuke was already angry, but his lip twitched as he suppressed a growl. They then pationtly waited for Ivy to finish.

"All this we get, but there's one thing. Don't call Daikisuke that, we're annoyed enough as it is. Please, never again call him a pet."

It surrprised even Lily how much rage and hate she had shoved into that one word. Rage from their situation, and enormous hate from both of them at the word itself. Pet. Lily had practically spit the word out, apparently disgusted with it.

Daikisuke couldn't help it. A low, quick growl emanated from the neko, and Lily put her hand on his head to calm him. Her eyes softened a bit as she gave her quick explanation.

"It a- a peeve we share, especially when it relates to animals. We would greatly appreciate it."

All throughout, Lily did not notice she was talking in plural. Ivy might have, and it is just be something that would push Lily's point. Lily talked in plural most all of the time anyway. But Daikisuke, however tame he is around Lily, is not a pet.

Lily stepped forward and crouched in the snow next to Ivy, scanning the snow. She smiled, trying to be nice. "So, is the length of the 'session' based on how fast we get a cart of these, or is it a set time?"

Cyprus had his back against the wall, patiently waiting for Rydlen to bring the equipment locker over. He quietly adjusted his gloves, and pushed himself off from the wall as the locker finally came. Cyprus grunted as a response to Rydlen. The guard quickly tapped in the five digit code, almost to fast for him to see, but he had been trying to break free for a long time, and if it needed a code, then he needed to know. He only managed a glimpse, but that glimpse left him with the final number, 1.

Cyprus took his equipment from Rydlen.

"I would be if you had taken any longer with the equipment locker."

Ccyprus smiled, he joked around, it made the job a lot less boring. He rolled his arms, letting the heavy jacket sit more comfortably.

"So we're old timers now eh? I guess I better start acting like an old man if thats the case."

He smiled as he set down some of his equipment, and waited for the gaurds go ahead to begin. Schedules were rather important around here. and He did not want to get beaten again, not like Rydlen did over his ridiculous 'Wizard' hat. He lightly punched Hakuzo on the arm.

"What abut you, oldy? you're the oldest one of us, hows it feel to be an old geezer?"

He pretended to hold a microphone out to Hakuzo.

One of the guards facepaws and walks over to Rydlen. "look your next destination is to collect more supplies crates that are being unloaded as we speak and take them to the storage area. Hop to it!"

Hakuzo shrugs off the punch as he replies. "That just means I have much more wisdom than you." Hakuzo retorts as he readjusts his gloves and holds his mattock over his shoulder waiting to begin. He isn't too thrilled because this area hasn't been producing any gems and it's rather boring digging through solid rock.

The guard sighs and returns back to his post. "What are you ladies waiting for? Get to swinging."

Hakuzo sighs and starts swinging into the rock. If he could use his powers, he could locate the gem deposits within seconds but even the slightest hint of Hakuzo's halo would result in a massive pain in the neck. Hakuzo has been here for a rather long time and he is fed up with this place.

Rydlen does a sort of mock salute to the guard. "Yus sir!" He rotates on one heel and starts marching off back to the area where the equipment is kept. There he.. "Ooh.. knocked my hat out of place.." There he adjusts his hat before picking up the next equipment locker and trudging to the next location for the drop. He makes sure to set himself a mental note about a certain number, though, and keeps his eyes open.

Cyprus hefts his mattock over his shoulder and chuckles at Hakuzos retort.

"You might have wisdom, but i'm still young and full of energy!"

Cyprus walked to the designated spot for digging and began swinging his mattock. Every time it struck the rock, bits of stone would crack off and fall down, as well as send vibrations up the legth of flo-wood handle.

"You think we'll find any gems this time, or just more rock?"

Cyprus said as he swung again, the pick getting stuck in the rock for a moment before he pulled it back out. The rock was strong, but they would get threw it like they always did, definately hard work. He really hoped that a gem would appear, maybe then the work would be worth it.
